We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join a world leader in engineered polymer solutions, based in their offices in Deeside. This is a full time, permanent role working either 9am – 5pm OR 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday, offering a salary of £30-36,000 per annum dependent on experience.
 
This Buyer role is reporting into the Supply Chain Manager, where you will be part of a small team of 4 people, with responsibility for ensuring goods and services are supplied to the business in a timely manner, along with leading day to day purchasing team operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Responsible for both direct and indirect purchasing
  • Achieving the lowest cost of acquisition across multiple suppliers, categories of spend and location.
  • Improving Vendor Payment terms in line with ongoing business requirements.
  • Identifying opportunity for supplier improvements and negotiating these changes.
  • Maintaining all relevant cost, lead time and other Supply Chain information on Dynamics 365.
  • Establishing Contracts of Supply and Pricing Agreements where applicable for significant suppliers
  • Sourcing and evaluating new / alternative suppliers as part of the continuous improvement philosophy
  • Identifying training and development needs for the procurement team.
  • Ensuring value added collaboration between departments, sites, and business areas
  • Deputising for the Supply Chain Manager by attending company meetings, as required.
  • Ensuring that processes are carried out to ISO9001 standards
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with Planning Department.
 
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience: 
  • Previous experience of working in a Buyer role within a manufacturing enviromnment ideally
  • Supervisory experience will be useful as you will be delegating workload between 2 Purchasing Administrators
  • Experience in working with multiple suppliers and high volumes of SKUs will be beneficial
  • Excellent stakeholder communication
  • Strong IT skills – MS Office
  • Dynamics 365 / ERP will be an advantage, but not essential
  • CIPS or degree in business or engineering – desirable, not essential.
