We are recruiting for an Injection Moulding Technician to join a leading plastics manufacturer based in Hereford on a permanent, full time basis. You will be working a 3 shift rotation of AM, PM and Nights, however to start it will be a 2 shift rotation working AM and PM – a total of 37.5 hour per week and Monday to Friday!

2 Shift Rotation: 6am-2pm/ 2pm-10pm - £26,344.50 per annum
3 Shift Rotation: 6am-2pm/ 10pm-6am/ 2pm-10pm - £26,929.50 per annum

As Injection Moulding Technician you will report into the Production Coordinator and ensure that the injection moulding machines are set up and are running correctly. You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Injection Moulding Team with the development of new tooling and moulding programs.
  • Safe and efficient tool changes (last off through to first off) of existing tools using pre-set programs.
  • Ensure that all ancillary machinery is set up correctly.
  • Material handling, including material and colour changes, mixing, drying and granulating.
  • Ensure and confirm that first off’s meet relevant quality standards.
  • Utilisation of staff to assist with tool changes, material changes, and general operation of the department.
  • Actively participate in process improvement activities.
  • Must be able to start-up and shut-down the entire department including moulding machines and all ancillary equipment.
  • Accurate recording and reporting of shift production metrics
  • Troubleshooting and fault correction through machine settings.
 
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:

  • At least 6 months experience of setting injection moulding machines
  • PTIC (Polymer Training & Innovation Centre) or BPTA (British Polymer Training Association) or a Manufacturing qualification is desirable although qualified by experience will be considered too
  • Good understanding of the injection moulding process.
  • Experience using Engel injection moulding machines and robots ideally, although training will be provided on these specific machines
  • Recognise process faults & component defects and understand what is required to rectify them.
