Night House Parent

Meridian Business Support is seeking Caring and Nurturing individuals to work as Night House Managers in a Boarding School in the Oxford area. This is a waking night position averaging 25 hours per week over a two-week rolling rota including every other weekend. The main objective of the Night House Parent role is to provide Security and Care to the students over the duration of the night, and to ensure that all students have access to an appropriate care figure, who can provide support to them, as required.
Working under the direction of the Night Boarding Manager you will be the student’s key pastoral care figure in a Boarding House, providing high quality care to our students. You will act as  ‘loco parentis’ to the students and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This is a roll your sleeves up and get the job done type of position and it is both challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

The key duties of this role are:

  • Ensure implementation of National Minimum Standards within boarding house practice and processes
  • Provide a safe and homely environment for the students
  • Be aware of, and comply with, current health and safety, safeguarding and child protection legislation and procedures, and to uphold the school’s policy on child protection.
  •  Be proactive in liaising with students about Exeat applications, and detailed arrangements for student arrival and departures for vacations or beginning and end of term

Experience:

  • SVQ3 Qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent (desirable).
  • Proven track record in boarding or childcare setting.
  • Experience of pastoral care of students in an educational setting.
  • Safeguarding experience and training up to Level 2 (can be provided).
  • Comprehensive First Aid Training including first response. Attributes:
