Meridian's client is a world leader in electrical wholesale equipment. Through our partnership-led approach and in-depth hiring insights, our Managed Services team identified and demonstrated a clear bias against women in the client's recruitment process at one of their UK sites, with 26% of women rejected without an interview. In some instances, women were actively screened out of applications despite company objectives to address the gender imbalance.
Our solution
Working with management, our team created a strategy to meet their new target of increasing the number of women hired in 2023 by 25%. This was done through:
- Re-training hiring managers.
- Using advanced AI software to detect gender bias language in job adverts and other employer-branded collateral.
- Encouraging temp to perm avenues to provide more security.
- Assessed careers website and made recommendations to add more diverse imagery.
Results
- Achieved 34% women hired - exceeding the client's target
- Reduced time to hire by 39%
- Reduced cost per hire by 15%
As a result of Meridian's solution was rolled out across five additional areas of the business.
